The firm was founded in 1953 by the late George Wilcoxson in Farmersville, Texas. The firm provided insurance for individual family insurance needs and small commercial accounts.

The insurance agency was purchased in 1982 by the McGuire family. During the past fifteen years, the agency has experienced strong growth in the northeast area of Texas. The firm is a customer-oriented insurance agency offering personal service to its customers.

McKinney Insurance Group is the fourth agency that the McGuire family has established or purchased in the past ten years. Other family-owned insurance businesses are located in Farmerville as well as in Princeton, Texas.
